Working with
Young People
West Norwich Partnership aims to work very closely
with the young people from the community. We have
run and supported a number of services for young
people including youth groups, activities during
school holidays and after school as well as working
alongside local schools.
Support for schools has included an anti litter
campaign, reader mentoring and classroom support.
We also ran a bookmark competition in partnership
with Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Constabulary
using the theme of crime and disorder. Over 5000
copies of the winning design were produced and
given out to local schools and the community.
Many young people have benefited from our highly
popular Sorted programme which provides activities
during school holidays and after school. Plans
are being made to set up a group for young people
from the area to enable them to plan and arrange
future activities themselves which will include
taking part in the Lords Mayors procession.
Difficulties with suitable venue availability
in some parts of West Norwich and concerns about
anti social behaviour have meant new ways of working
with young people are being explored. This has
included outreach work alongside Norfolk Youth
Service and WNP is also the lead agency in a forum
of local organisations to identify and address
the needs of young people from the area.
