Volunteer Opportunities
Community involvement and volunteers are vital
to the success of WNP and we fully value all input
offered. We have volunteers from all walks of
life and ages range from 17 to post retirement
age and there are many ways that people do or
can become involved. Initial and ongoing support
is provided as well as a variety of training.
Volunteers can give up as much or as little of
their time as they wish and we can cover volunteer
expenses. To find out more about volunteer opportunities
please contact
us.
Volunteer opportunities within WNP include:
Sorted activities for 10-16 year olds:
Providing support and taking part in
a variety of activities for young people. This
is mainly during the school holidays though the
programme is constantly developing and we run
some after school activities such as bowling.
(See the Sorted scheme page
for more details)
Sorted activities for families:
Volunteers are or can become involved in supporting
trips and activities for families mainly during
the school holidays on our highly popular Sorted
scheme.
Sorted family forum: This is
a group that meets on a regular basis to help
decide, plan and monitor family activities for
the Sorted
scheme. This group consists of local people
who attend or plan to attend trips or activities
within the programme.
Sorted young persons forum:
We are currently in the process of setting up
a similar group to the family forum but this one
will be specifically for the age range 10-16.
We would look to have a mixture of young people
as well as volunteers to support the group.
Management committee: To ensure
we meet the needs of the local community, we are
always keen to have more local people stepping
forward to help us develop further. To be eligible
volunteers need to be residents or have businesses
within the West Norwich area. The committee currently
meets on a monthly basis (normally a Tuesday evening).
One off activities: This can
include supporting existing staff and volunteers
with events run through our mobile exhibition
unit. We are also planning to have a float at
the 2006 Lord Mayors procession and would look
for a variety of support and skills for this.
By volunteering for us you can:
- Access free and ongoing training
- Meet a variety of new people
- Help develop and support your local community
- Claim out of pocket expenses
- Improve your job prospects by gaining valuable
work experience
- Learn new skills
- Try new activities and visit new places
- Have lots of fun
